Management Company Accountant

The Management Company Accountant position will reside in the New York office and will report directly to the Controller. This professional will be a key member of the management company accounting team that is responsible for Capstone’s global operations and will get a wide range of exposure over time. The ideal candidate is a professional who can think quickly on their feet, excel in a fast-paced, demanding environment, has the ability to prioritize and multi-task efficiently, and has the ability to create relationships across the organization.


  • Utilize Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) to manage day to day journal entries, reporting and reconciliation tools
  • Utilize FITS (Financial Information Tracking System) and work with the firm’s market data consultant to manage expense allocation, budgeting, and recording of journal entries
  • Expense allocation process including allocation of expenses between the firm and the funds and amongst the funds in accordance with the firm’s policy
  • Assist with month end close process, including general ledger account reconciliations
  • Review and record employee expense reports
  • Assist with year-end audit
  • Ensure invoices are captured and coded correctly in our expense processing system (Concur)
  • Work on various automation projects to streamline workflows and drive process efficiencies
  • Other duties may be assigned to meet business need


  • Degree in Accounting
  • 0-3 years’ experience
  • Internship or professional accounting experience
  • Knowledge of GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles)
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; must be able to communicate with co-workers, management, clients, and others in a courteous and professional manner
  • Ability to work and interact with departments throughout the organization
