We are looking for a qualified, enthusiastic candidate to join our firm’s global Legal and Compliance team in a “Legal Operations” role. This is a full-time position and can be based out of our New York City headquarters or the firm’s satellite office in Stamford, CT.
The Legal Operations role will report to a senior lawyer on Capstone’s global Legal and Compliance team, which is comprised of 11 total team members. The role offers the opportunity to gain in-house experience while working with team that provides oversight and counsel to Capstone in connection with the firm’s legal, compliance and regulatory operations.
The Legal Operations role will be a key player on Capstone’s Legal and Compliance team, engaged in a broad variety of legal, compliance and operational matters. Among other things, the role will be involved in the formation, structuring and operation of private investment funds, governance related to those funds and Capstone, counterparty matters and various ad hoc compliance and regulatory issues. Experience in anti-money laundering (“AML”) matters related to counterparty document negotiation (e.g., ISDAs, prime brokerage agreements) is a plus.
The ideal candidate is an intellectually curious individual who wants to develop skills in a fast-paced environment, has the ability to be proactive, responsive and multi-task efficiently, and a desire to create relationships across Capstone through collaborative work with the firm’s Operations, Middle Office, Finance and other teams. The candidate should be humble, results-oriented and have the flexibility to adapt to quickly changing circumstances and priorities. Excellent written and verbal communications skills are necessary for success in this role.
- 3 or more years’ experience at a law firm, in-house role at a registered investment adviser or other highly regulated institution (e.g., bank, insurance company).
- Bachelor’s degree from a reputable college or university
Base Salary Range
$110,000 – $150,000 USD
